Artist Bio

My artistic path began with photography learned as a child from my father who was a professional photographer. Through the years as a photographer myself, I honed my observational skills, attention to detail, and focus, which have served me well - first as a stained glass artist, and now as a fused glass artist.

My love of nature in all its forms influences my art. I am able to draw on my own photography for inspiration when I am creating fused glass (kiln -fired) pieces, many of which are nature themed. Currently, in addition to a layered fused glass process, I use a penning technique, in which I draw on clear glass with a pen and enamel inks and pair that with colored glass to create the finished piece.

All styles of my work can be viewed in my studio and on my Instagram account: Bettiannefordglass.

About the Studio

My studio is nestled under large old Live Oaks in my backyard, surrounded by my studio garden. The interior of my studio is focused on function and efficiency with a touch of comfort and color. The various pieces of equipment I use are on display.

What to Expect

I will demonstrate the way I draw when creating my penned glass pieces, along with the tools I employ. In addition, I will also demonstrate the layered glass process. I also offer a view of pieces at various stages of completion, and discuss that way the kiln is used in the process.
